Teacher with allegations by NCTL allowed to continue with teaching career

Teacher with allegations by NCTL allowed to continue with teaching career

We recently acted for a Teacher who was being pursued by the National College of Teaching and Leadership (“the NCTL”) after allegations were made against her for professional misconduct, and, conduct which would bring the profession into disrepute. Our client was, understandably, highly distressed as to the allegations, which was added to by the fact that proceedings of this nature are heard in public. We were able to secure a private hearing for our client which, in turn, reduced the stress of the process and subsequent hearing for her.

We went on to instruct Counsel and assist our client throughout the hearing where the Professional Misconduct Panel found that the NCTL had not made out their case. The Panel took the opportunity to recognise the good work that our client had achieved at the school, especially in light of the intensely stressful nature of the proceedings. Our client is now free to continue with her teaching career.
